old oil series

A unique collection that symbolizes the brand
This is the "Old Oil" series, which features a vintage-like look achieved through a traditional hand-dyeing technique called "okazome" (hill dyeing).
Full-vegetable tanned leather from Himeji, tanned with tannins extracted from mimosa and chestnut, is meticulously dyed in multiple layers by Vasco craftsmen.
The leather develops a richer luster and texture with use, allowing you to enjoy its aging for a long time.
*The manufacturing process is detailed at the bottom of the page.

Brand Story

Concept: "Travel Tools"
Vasco is a Japanese brand that creates bags and leather goods under the concept of "travel tools."
During the Age of Discovery, Vasco da Gama was a great navigator and explorer who pioneered new continents.
We named our brand "VASCO" with the desire to reflect the relentless spirit of challenge that ancient travelers pursued throughout their lives in our craftsmanship.
Vasco handles all processes from planning and sample creation to mass production in-house. They say, "Items created with the same spirit possess a genuine power that cannot be expressed in words."
The concept of "travel tools" implies "things that endure through attrition," and we create heavy-duty items that never lose their brilliance over time.
Atelier

Vasco's manufacturing is based in Koenji, Tokyo.
In the atelier, which has been renovated to evoke the image of old sailing ships and port warehouses, a small but elite team of craftsmen uses handmade techniques to produce a wide variety of bags and leather goods.
Craftman ship

Each Vasco craftsman possesses reliable skills and aesthetic sense, and instead of working on an assembly line, each person handles all processes from pattern making to sewing and finishing.
Because the craftsmen are well-versed in leather, sewing, and finishing, they can express even subtle nuances and meticulous details that are difficult to put into words.
Vasco, as a constantly evolving group of professionals proud of their global reputation, believes that "Made in Japan" is not just about "making in Japan," but about "the Japanese spirit residing in the product."
