vasco / OLD OIL series
Modernizing a 1970s US ARMY field telephone set case
While retaining military elements, it has been finished for urban use. It has an outer pocket and the main compartment opens and closes with a zipper. Convenient A4 size.
We use our original "OLD OIL" leather, which is full-vegetable tanned Himeji leather, tanned with tannins extracted from mimosa and chestnut. Each piece is carefully dyed using a traditional handmade method called "oka-zome," then thoroughly soaked in oil and finished with a unique burnt process to achieve a vintage-like texture. As you use it, its luster and texture will increase, allowing you to enjoy its aging for a long time.

Brand Story

Concept: "Travel Tools"
Vasco is a Japanese brand that creates bags and leather goods based on the concept of "travel tools."
During the Age of Discovery, Vasco da Gama was a great navigator and explorer who pioneered new continents.
We named our brand "VASCO" with the desire to reflect the insatiable spirit of challenge that ancient travelers pursued throughout their lives in our craftsmanship.
Vasco handles all processes from planning and sample production to mass production. They say, "Things made with the same mindset possess a true power that cannot be expressed in words."
The concept of "travel tools" embodies the meaning of "things that remain after being sifted out," and they create heavy-duty items that never lose their luster over time.
Atelier

Vasco's manufacturing takes place in Koenji, Tokyo.
In their atelier, renovated to evoke an old sailing ship or port warehouse, a select few craftsmen use handmade techniques to produce a wide variety of bags and leather goods.
Craftman ship

Each of Vasco's craftsmen possesses both solid skills and keen sensibilities, handling every step from pattern making to sewing and finishing themselves, rather than working on an assembly line.
It is precisely because they are craftsmen with extensive knowledge of leather, sewing, and finishing that they can express even subtle nuances and particular details that are difficult to put into words.
As a continually evolving group of professionals proud of their work, Vasco believes that "Made In Japan" is not just about "making in Japan," but about "the Japanese spirit residing in the product."
