vasco / Old Oil Series
A Modern Take on the U.S. MAIL Postman's Mailbag
This leather shoulder bag is a modern adaptation of the mailbags used by U.S. MAIL postmen from the early 1900s to the 1960s.
It's a convenient A4 size and suitable for both men and women.
You can choose whether or not to have the U.S. MAIL stamp.
It uses "OLD OIL," an original leather made from Himeji-produced full-vegetable tanned leather, tanned with tannins extracted from mimosa and chestnut. Each piece is carefully dyed using a traditional handmade method called "oka-zome" (hill dyeing), then generously soaked in oil, and finished with a unique scorching process to give it a vintage look.
As you use it, its luster and texture will deepen, allowing you to enjoy its aging for a long time.

Brand Story

Concept: "Tools for Travel"
Vasco is a Japanese brand that creates bags and leather goods under the concept of "tools for travel."
During the Age of Exploration, Vasco da Gama was a great navigator and explorer who pioneered new continents.
The name "VASCO" was given with the desire to reflect the insatiable spirit of challenge that ancient travelers pursued throughout their lives into their craftsmanship.
Vasco handles all processes from planning and sample creation to mass production consistently. They say, "There is a genuine power that cannot be expressed in words in things made with the same consciousness."
The concept of "tools for travel" embodies the meaning of "things that remain even as they are eliminated," and they create heavy-duty items that do not lose their brilliance over time.
Atelier

Vasco's craftsmanship is based in Koenji, Tokyo.
Inside the renovated atelier, inspired by old sailing ships and port warehouses, a small but elite team of craftsmen uses handmade techniques to produce a wide variety of bags and leather goods.
Craftman ship

Each Vasco craftsman possesses solid skills and sensibility. Instead of an assembly line, each person handles all processes from pattern making to sewing and finishing.
Because they are experts in leather knowledge, sewing, and finishing, they can express even subtle nuances and meticulous details that are difficult to put into words.
As a world-renowned group of professionals, Vasco continues to evolve, believing that "Made in Japan" is not just about "being made in Japan," but about "the Japanese spirit residing in the product."
