Recreating the coal bags used by American miners

A "coal bag" was originally a bag with handles on both sides for carrying coal.
Because it was used to carry heavy loads, it was also used as a tool bag outside of coal mining.
We recreated it based on existing vintage coal bags, paying close attention to rivets and intricate details.
The material is the same base as our standard horsehide, but it undergoes a process of drumming (milling) → dyeing → ironing (polishing) → drumming again (loosening fibers). This results in a leather with a rich texture, achieved through more steps than usual.

HORSE HIDE

In our horsehide collection, the natural expression visible within the beautiful luster evokes the image of a horse galloping across a vast landscape.
The clever aging mechanism is also incredibly cool and enjoyable. This is a masterpiece that allows you to feel the magnificent flow of time and its breath.

Horsehide leather refers to leather made from the torso of a mature horse.
Originally, we used carefully selected hides for clothing such as flight jackets, chosen for their fabric content and size.
A light milling process in the final stage gives it an indescribably pleasant texture and softness.

"Teak Core" creates a truly tasteful contrast

As the item is used, the pigment on the surface gradually peels off due to friction, revealing the base layer underneath. Since the base is dyed mocha all the way to the core, it creates a wonderfully subdued appearance.
This state is called "Teak Core" and is favored by many vintage enthusiasts.

After much trial and error, we adopted the size of rivets used for jeans.
They serve as an effective accent.

Material features	・Horsehide uses European raw hides and undergoes vegetable tanning to create the base. Originally, the base was carefully selected for its fabric content and size for apparel use such as flight jackets. During dyeing, not only the surface but also the core is dyed mocha, and the surface is pigment-finished in the final stage. The leather is finished with a stable color and lustrous texture throughout, and a light milling process in the final stage gives it an indescribably pleasant texture and softness. Lightness is also a characteristic.
Material notice	May include horse leather-specific blood vessels, some scratches or wrinkles from running around, and uneven dyeing. Please understand this is due to the nature of leather.
