Based on a vintage newspaper bag
A newspaper bag, as the name suggests, is a bag said to have been used by American boys delivering newspapers around the 1900s.
It is wide enough to hold newspapers, and the strap is designed to be thick to withstand the load.
While many were made of canvas, this piece is intentionally crafted from horsehide leather.
Compared to standard horsehide, this leather is finished to be more supple and body-fitting, making it easier to handle. It is also lightweight and can be used for everyday carry or even short trips.
HORSE HIDE
The horsehide collection features a natural expression visible within its beautiful luster, reminiscent of a horse galloping across a vast plain.
The clever aging mechanism is also incredibly cool and enjoyable. It is a masterpiece that evokes a sense of grand time and vitality.
Horsehide leather refers to leather from the body of a mature horse.
Originally, for garments like flight jackets, carefully selected hides were used based on their fabric content and size.
In the final process, light揉み加工 (kneading process) is applied to achieve an indescribable feel and softness.
*This leather is drum-tumbled to create a moderate grain and suppleness, resulting in a leather that fits the body more comfortably than standard horsehide.
"Teacore" creates a uniquely tasteful contrast
As it is used, the surface pigment gradually wears off due to rubbing, revealing the underlying base leather. Since the base is dyed mocha brown all the way through, it develops a uniquely rich character.
This condition is known as "teacore" and is cherished by many vintage enthusiasts.

Detail-oriented stitching
The leather continues seamlessly in a U-shape from the sides to the bottom.
No seams mean that a luxuriously large piece of leather is used.
The sides and bottom, which bear the most stress, are reinforced with triple stitching.
This is not done with a triple needle in one go, but by running the machine three times.
"We know it's quite inefficient. However, the resulting aesthetic is just so cool."

From daily use to travel
It securely stores not only essentials but also bulky items like jackets and cameras. The generous gusset is very reliable.
Inside the main compartment, there's a 24cm zippered pocket and a leather brand tag, with an open pocket on the opposite side.
95cm wide strap
Made from double-sided horsehide grain leather. Since it's based on a vintage newspaper bag, the shoulder strap is made from a single piece of leather and is intentionally non-adjustable.

The strap is also entirely made of horse leather. The shoulder pad reduces strain. The length can be adjusted in 7 stages.
Opens and closes with a brass snap

| Material features | ・Horsehide uses European raw hides, vegetable-tanned to create the base. Originally, the base leather was carefully selected for its fabric content and size for use in garments like flight jackets. During dyeing, not only the surface but also the core is dyed mocha brown, and the surface is pigment-finished in the final step. The leather is finished to have a stable color and lustrous texture throughout, and a light kneading process in the final step gives it an indescribably pleasant feel and softness. Lightness is also a characteristic. ・Horse butt is rare leather from the horse's hindquarters with high fiber density. In the bag series, it is used for parts like belt joints. Here, base leather that could not be completed as cordovan is used to create a finish with the unique texture and natural wrinkles of horse leather, unlike cow leather. Similarly, thick horse butts from European raw hides are selected and vegetable-tanned. The dyeing is intentionally left as a raw dye finish, allowing the leather to age beautifully, revealing the true character of horse natural leather as it is used. |
