Horsehide leather refers to leather made from the body of a mature horse.
Originally, a carefully selected base leather, chosen for its fabric content and size, was used for clothing applications such as flight jackets.
A light揉み加工 (kneading process) in the final stage creates an indescribable texture and softness.
The "Tea Core" Creates a Richly Textured Contrast
As it is used, the surface pigment gradually wears off due to friction, revealing the underlying leather. Since the core of the underlying leather is dyed mocha, it develops a uniquely rich character.
This state is known as "tea core" and is cherished by many vintage enthusiasts.

| Material features | ・Horsehide uses European raw hides, vegetable-tanned to create the base leather. Originally, the base leather was carefully selected for its fabric content and size for use in clothing, such as flight jackets. During dyeing, not only the surface but also the core is dyed mocha, and the final finish is a pigment finish on the surface. The entire leather is finished with a stable color and luster, and a light kneading process in the final stage creates an indescribable texture and softness. Lightness is also a characteristic. ※[About Roughout] This is a very rare item made by intentionally turning over horse leather that has gone through all final processes to create a roughout specification. The length of the raised nap, unlike suede, can be intentionally uneven in some areas, resulting in a rugged finish. As it is used, the color will fade in some areas and darken in others, creating a contrast. ・Horsebutt is a rare leather from the horse's buttock area with high fiber density. In bag series, it is placed on parts such as belt joints. Here, base leather that could not be completed as cordovan is used to achieve a unique feel and natural wrinkles characteristic of horse leather, which cowhide does not have. Similarly, thick horsebutt from European raw hides is selected and vegetable-tanned. The dyeing is intentionally left as a dye-only finish, allowing the natural aging of horse nude leather to be enjoyed with use. |
