Chromexcel

Known for producing the highest quality cordovan (shell cordovan), Horween is a traditional American tannery with over 100 years of history and a global presence.
Chrome Excel leather is one of their signature products, and is highly trusted by boot makers around the world.
Chrome Excel is a cowhide leather made based on a manufacturing method developed about 100 years ago. It is made by tanning carefully selected raw hides from North America using a "combination tanning" method, and then slowly permeating the hides with a special oil that is a blend of more than four types of oil, including beef tallow, beeswax, vegetable oil, and fish oil.
Because the wood is permeated with abundant natural oils all the way to the core, it is thick yet flexible, and combines a unique soft texture with high durability.

Unique shades and the charm of the brown core

For the finishing touch, the base is tanned in a natural color and then dyed using an aniline hand finish made using a unique recipe.
When you bend or stretch it, vivid colors emerge from the deep surface color.
As you use the black color, the brown base gradually appears, allowing you to enjoy the charm of the so-called "brown-core black."
Other colours also show beautiful unevenness in shade due to pull-up (the movement of oil inside the leather), and the more you use it, the more the leather develops a rich, refined look.

Material characteristics	-Chrome Excel leather is cowhide that is made by combining selected raw hides from North America and tanning them with a special oil that is a blend of more than four types of oils and fats, including beef tallow, beeswax, vegetable oil, and fish oil, and then allowed to penetrate the leather. For the finishing touch, the base material is tanned in a natural color and then dyed using a unique aniline hand finish recipe. Because it is infused with abundant natural oils deep into the core, it is thick yet has just the right amount of softness. - The oil moves through the leather fibers, causing the shade to change. In both cases, the dye moves through the leather fibers, creating a nice uneven look. As you use it, the oiliness will fade and the leather will take on a more atmospheric look. - Black Tochigi leather (core) is used for the belt and joint parts.
Material Caution	- Because natural leather is used, naturally occurring scratches and wrinkles, as well as the texture and color of the leather may differ from the photo. ・Because this product contains a large amount of oil, the oil may turn white depending on the season. This is caused by the oil hardening, and can be stopped by lightly rubbing the surface with a cloth. The oil contained in this product also has the effect of smoothing out scratches that occur during use with cream or oil.
