Chromexcel

Horween, known for producing the finest cordovan (shell cordovan), is a traditional American tannery with over 100 years of history and a global presence.
Chromexcel leather is one of their signature products and is highly trusted by boot makers around the world.
Chrome Excel is a cowhide leather that is made using a method developed about 100 years ago. Carefully selected North American rawhide is tanned using a "combination tanning" process, and then slowly soaked in a special oil blend of more than four types of oil, including beef tallow, beeswax, vegetable oil, and fish oil.
The abundant natural oils permeate the wood all the way to the core, making it thick yet flexible, and giving it a unique soft texture and high durability.

The unique shade and charm of the brown core

For the finishing touch, the base is tanned in a natural color and then dyed using an aniline hand finish made using a unique recipe.
When you bend or stretch it, the vivid colors emerge from the deep surface color.
As you use the black color, the brown base gradually appears, allowing you to enjoy the charm of the so-called "brown-core black."
Other colors also develop beautiful unevenness in shade due to pull-up (a phenomenon in which oil moves inside the leather), and the more you use it, the more it develops a refined appearance.
