Based on the U.S. MAIL postman's mailbag manufactured from the early 1900s to the 1960s
The piping's edges reveal a deep mocha color dyed into the underlying leather.

HORSE HIDE
In the horsehide collection, the natural texture visible within its beautiful luster evokes the image of a horse galloping across vast lands.
The clever aging mechanism is also incredibly cool and enjoyable. It's an exquisite item that allows you to feel the grand flow of time and vitality.
Horsehide leather refers to leather made from the body of a mature horse.
Originally, we used carefully selected base leather, chosen for its fabric content and size, for clothing such as flight jackets.
A light揉み (momimami) process in the final stage gives it an indescribable tactile and soft feel.
"Chashin" creates a wonderfully tasteful contrast
As it is used, the pigment on the surface gradually wears off due to rubbing, revealing the underlying leather. Since the core of the underlying leather is dyed mocha, it develops a wonderfully deep expression.
This condition is called "Chashin" (brown core) and is loved by many vintage enthusiasts.

| Material characteristics | ・Horsehide uses European raw hides and is vegetable-tanned to create the base leather. Originally, we used carefully selected base leather, chosen for its fabric content and size, for clothing such as flight jackets. During dyeing, not only the surface but also the core is dyed mocha, and the surface is finished with pigment in the final process. The leather is finished with a stable color and lustrous texture throughout, and a light揉み (momimami) process in the final stage gives it an indescribable tactile and soft feel. Lightness is also a characteristic. ・Horse butt is rare horse rump leather with high fiber density. In the bag series, it is used for belt joints and other parts. Here, we use base leather that could not be finished as cordovan, and process it to bring out the unique tactile feel and natural wrinkles of horse leather that are not found in cowhide. We also select the thickest possible horse butt from European raw hides and subject it to vegetable tanning. The dyeing is intentionally left as is with dye, allowing the natural aging of the horse nude leather to be enjoyed with use. |
