"Cordovan" is one of the three major leathers in the world and is said to be the highest grade of all leathers.
Cordovan is originally made by carving out only the 2mm thick layer called the "Cordovan layer", which is located inside the skin tissue of the horse's butt.
It is a rare material that can only be harvested in limited quantities from one horse.
The cordovan used here is shell cordovan manufactured by Horween, a North American cordovan tannery founded in 1905.
Due to its high quality and special sense of luxury, it has been described as the "diamond of leather" and continues to be loved all over the world. Its unique soft luster and glossy texture are irresistible.
It is tanned using traditional vegetable tannins and finished by skilled craftsmen over a process that takes over 6 months.
By taking the time to let the oil penetrate into the interior, it not only increases its durability against bending, but also creates a finish that feels comfortable in the hand.
