"Leather of leathers" Untreated vegetable-tanned leather

Untreated vegetable-tanned leather is "raw leather" that has been tanned using tannins, a component also found in plant astringents, and finished without surface processing.
It has the most leather-like appearance among countless materials, so it is also called "the leather of leathers."
The process of soaking it in tannins is very time-consuming and costly, making mass production impossible, which gives vegetable-tanned leather products a rare value.

Aging (Patina)

Vegetable-tanned leather often has a stiff image at first, but horse vegetable-tanned leather is appealing because it is soft and easy to use from the start.
Furthermore, despite being thicker than other horse leathers, the horse leather used in FORO Natural is surprisingly light! (Thicker leather also tends to show the unique grain of leather more easily, adding to its character.)

Scratches become part of the charm, a natural individuality

Since it is untreated leather, if you look closely, you can see the original animal's scratches and blood vessel marks, resulting in a very natural finish.
Since no oil is added, it can be held smoothly without feeling sticky. Because the horses were raised in a near-free-range environment in Europe and North America, you can feel more of their unique character. While the leather itself is durable, its untreated surface makes it susceptible to scratches and vulnerable to water.
It is recommended to use it carefully until the surface is somewhat coated. Including the original scratches, this vegetable-tanned leather has a natural charm, making even minor scratches look like character. Please try to nurture your own beautiful amber-colored bag.
