Yoshida Kaban Porter / Bill Bridle
Material
Enjoy watching the white bloom disappear
and the leather mature over time.
"PORTER BILL BRIDLE" is a high-class leather accessory series made from bridle leather from a long-established British tannery with over 170 years of history.
Bridle leather, one of the three great leathers of the world, is famous for being used in horse saddles.
It uses thick and durable cowhide leather (leather from female cows aged 2 years or older) that has been vegetable-tanned, and in the final stage, waxes such as beeswax are rubbed in to tighten the leather fibers, resulting in a more robust and durable leather.
It is known as a luxury leather because it requires much more effort compared to general leather. The main material used is bridle leather from "THOMAS WARE & SONS," established in Bristol, England, in 1840.
The leather is made from raw hides from the UK, and after tanning, artisans hand-apply wax to each piece for over 10 weeks.
The white powder that appears on the surface of the leather is wax, such as beeswax and vegetable oil, called bloom.
As it is used, the oil and wax in the leather gradually increase its luster, and its color deepens, allowing you to enjoy its aging beautifully.
Bridle leather used even for the interior
In this series, the heavy and thick bridle leather is skived thin to reduce weight, and it is luxuriously used in key areas of the interior.
The edges of the cuts, where the artisan's skill can be felt, are carefully polished, giving it a sharp and clean impression despite its basic design.
